Nanlite’s new ‘Wand’ light offers power and portability

Aug 5, 2025

Nanlite has unveiled a new addition to its LED lighting lineup with the release of the Wand, a lightweight, full-colour fixture aimed at mobile filmmakers, content creators, and on-the-go crews. Weighing just 420 grams and featuring the company’s advanced Nebula C4 Light Engine, the Wand combines high output with colour versatility and intuitive control.

Despite its compact size, the Wand delivers a powerful 14,150 lux at half a metre (5600K), made possible by focusing lenses placed over the LEDs. Its wide CCT range (2700K–7500K) is complemented by a ±150 green/magenta adjustment for accurate colour rendering and easier camera matching. Nanlite claims the Nebula C4 engine offers improved white light quality and richer colour performance compared to earlier models.

The fixture supports full RGB control, offering 36,000 selectable colours and 14 built-in effects, including lightning, candlelight, and emergency vehicle simulations. These effects are customisable via the onboard interface or through the NANLINK 2.0 app, which also enables grouped light control and firmware updates.

In terms of design, the Wand is built for handheld use, with an ergonomic shape available in either mint blue or midnight blue. It includes a 1.28-inch round display, two buttons, and a single dial to simplify operation. Removable barndoors and a diffuser are included for quick adaptation to different shooting conditions, and a 1/4″-20 mounting thread allows it to be easily attached to tripods or light stands.

The Wand offers multiple power solutions, supporting NP-F batteries, PD3.0 chargers, and USB-C power banks. With an NP-F750 or NP-F970 battery, the unit can run for 1 to 1.5 hours. An optional Power Bank Holder accessory allows users to mount a battery pack directly onto the fixture for even greater portability.

While compact, the unit also includes an internal fan that maintains performance while keeping noise levels at just 22 dB(A) — low enough to avoid interfering with sound recording on set.

Available now for $119 (excluding taxes), the Wand is designed for users looking for a balance between portability, performance, and flexibility. More information is available at www.nanlite.com.
