
The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has announced its new film series, public programmes and education programmes for the spring season.
Programming includes: An ‘A Lifetime of Inspiration: Bong Joon Ho’ film series and ‘A Weekend with Bong Joon Ho’, featuring a screening of Mickey 17 (2025) with director Bong, plus a screening of Zodiac (2007) with Bong joined by David Fincher; the free annual Careers in Film Summit featuring Q&As with Academy members and industry professionals, including actor Jessica Alba and filmmaker Carlos Lopez Estrada; a ‘Darkness and Humanity: The Complete Akira Kurosawa’ film series, presented entirely on 35mm film; Hayao Miyazaki Family Matinee screenings; a screening of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) to mark the opening of ‘Marilyn Monroe: Hollywood Icon’ on 31 May; and ‘A Day of Celebrating the Force’, a day-long Star Wars-inspired celebration.
Additional highlights include three more editions of the ‘Inside Jaws’ conversation series, featuring screenwriter Nia Vardalos, cinematographer Dion Beebe ASC ACS, and costume designer Isis Mussenden, as they discuss their crafts in ‘Jaws: The Exhibition’; ‘No Other Time but Now: Robert Shaw, Actor’, a retrospective series showcasing the films of actor Robert Shaw; a ‘Great Expectations: British Post-War Cinema 1945-1960’ film series; the 4K restoration world premiere of Fight Club (1999); a screening of Welcome II the Terrordome (1995) with filmmaker Ngozi Onwurah and author Ashley Clark; and a screening of Follow That Bird (1985) with director Ken Kwapis.
