EnergaCAMERIMAGE has finalised its Main Competition line-up with Anemone, lensed by Ben Fordesman BSC.

The drama from director Ronan Day-Lewis – which saw the big-screen return of Ronan’s father Daniel after almost a decade – has been described as “a visually stunning and emotionally charged story” by EnergaCAMERIMAGE.

The title will also serve as the Opening Film for the festival, which kicks off on 15 November.

Revealing the news, organisers said: “Directed with extraordinary sensitivity and captured through exceptional cinematography, Anemone exemplifies the kind of filmmaking that defines the spirit of EnergaCAMERIMAGE – cinema where image and emotion intertwine to create a profound artistic experience.

“We are honoured to begin this year’s edition with such a powerful and visually captivating film, marking the official start of a week dedicated to celebrating the art of cinematography in Toruń.”

A synopsis of the film, provided by EnergaCAMERIMAGE, says: “An enigmatic shared history marred by shocking violence and harsh religiosity has left brothers Ray and Jem Stoker estranged for 20 years.

“Each brother has sought redemption in his own way: Ray lives a life of self-imposed exile, while Jem has taken refuge in his devout faith and his devotion to partner Nessa and their son Brian. But a family crisis forces Jem to track Ray down and ask him to revisit some of the most troubling moments of his life.

“In Ray’s primitive cabin, hidden deep in the woods of northern England, the brothers face the ghosts of the past, bearing deep resentments, almost forgotten grudges and untold tragedy.”

Anemone joins 13 other films in the Main Competition line-up, with the likes of F1: The Movie and A Complete Unknown also on the list.

EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival takes place from 15-22 November – full details are available on its website
