Nanlite has introduced new cookie and cookie-s LED lights, which are smaller than your palm and plug straight into a phone, tablet or any USB-C output device, drawing power directly from them.
With a dual-sided design, they can deliver both hard and soft lighting at three different levels of brightness.
The small size aims to deliver versatile lights that creators can use for a wide range of scenes.
To save size and weight, the cookie lights don’t have internal batteries. Instead, they feature a plug-and-play USB-C power design.
With the ability to plug straight into a smartphone or any USB-C output device to power up, they are said to be ideal for anyone on the go – perfect for live streaming, still lifes, spontaneous group photos and use as a fill light outdoors.
With LED panels on both sides, the cookie lights deliver both soft and hard light. The soft-light side uses a diffuser to provide eye-friendly light, while the hard-light side uses focusing lenses to produce concentrated light for extra output.
They can also be used with the new dual-capture modes on the latest phones by illuminating both sides at the same time. Simply press both buttons on the light at once to turn on lighting for front and back cameras.
Both sides provide three levels of brightness and selectable colour temperature.
While they are small, they reportedly offer incredibly high colour accuracy, with a CRI average of 95 and a TLCI average of 98. To adjust, simply short-press the control button to adjust brightness, and long-press to adjust colour temperature.
Both the cookie and cookie-s measure about two inches long and weigh only 21.4g /0.76oz.
The cookie features a round design, while the cookie-s has a square design. Both models are available in three colours: Cyan Blue, Lavender, or Coral Pink.
