Astera has introduced QuikBeam, the newest addition to its Quik family of focusing LED Fresnels.
“This ultra-compact spotlight combines the equivalent power of a 200W tungsten with cutting-edge LED technology, featuring a 13°-60° Fresnel-based zoom, swappable QuikBrick batteries, and built-in Power over Ethernet (PoE),” Astera explained.
“Engineered to fit seamlessly into any environment while delivering exceptional performance, this light is made to meet the demands of live events, film sets, and broadcast productions of any scale.”
QuikBeam is designed to deliver clean, defined beams ideal for precise uplighting, accents and feature highlighting, following the tradition of film “Inkies” with bold Fresnel lenses.
Featuring a 13°-60° QuikTurn zoom, this compact powerhouse features the new HotBeam function to push beyond 13° producing exceptional output and center intensity at even narrower beam settings.
Engineered to cut downtime and revolutionise workflows, QuikBeam offers an “exceptionally versatile” power ecosystem.
Its fully waterproof QuikBrick batteries may be swapped in seconds and fast charged when needed. Users can choose from three charging methods: via PoE while wired in the fixture, within the optional ChargingDock (charges up to four QuikBricks at once), or through its USB-C port.
For hardwired applications, users can connect QuikBeam up to 100 metres/328 feet from the PowerInjector or IP65 NetBox, which enables four PoE EtherCON outputs and PrepBox functionality, streamlining setup and configuration in under 10 seconds.
An early PoE integrator within the lighting industry, QuikBeam combines power and data in a single cable, supporting standard sACN and ArtNet signals. The IP65-rated fixture works seamlessly with existing PoE switches and the battery charges when connected.
Driven by Astera’s industry-standard Titan LED Engine, QuikBeam provides “rich, accurate RGBMA colour rendering that matches seamlessly across all Astera products, while also offering the extra performance of QuikFamily’s OutputGain”.
While sharing similar strengths with the rest of Astera’s QuikFamily, QuikBeam was created specifically to deliver maximum performance in the smallest, lightest form factor possible. This ultra-compact powerhouse measures just 136mm x 120mm / 5.35″ x 4.75″ and weighs 1617g / 3.56 lbs.
From its 3/8″ and 1/4″ built-in threads to its removable yoke with integrated AirlineTrack for tripod or truss mounting (via 28/16 TrackSpigot), the QuikBeam housing is said to be built for speed, versatility and efficiency.
“Manoeuvrable yet rugged with an IP65 rating, QuikBeam offers comprehensive control to suit any workflow: built-in CRMX, wireless DMX, AsteraApp, UHF connectivity, infrared remote control, or web interface,” Astera added.
QuikBeam’s accessory system enhances creative possibilities. Its super-lightweight Barndoors allow users to precisely cut and shape light.
The EdgeSoftener filter slips over the lens to emulate the gentle falloff of a classic Fresnel, while the Rotatable Elliptical Filter can be similarly installed to transform the circular beam shape into an adjustable ellipse, perfect for architectural lighting or selective subject illumination.
While multiple unit flight cases will be available via Astera distributors, QuikBeam is also available as a four-unit kit with NetBox and accessories or in a two-unit backpack suited for smaller production needs.
