RED Digital Cinema will share its “latest breakthroughs in cinematic technology” at the 2025 Broadcast India Show in Mumbai, India, it has revealed.
Taking place from 14-16 October, attendees visiting RED (#E05) will see live demonstrations of the camera specialist’s newest innovations and experience the “immersive image quality delivered by RED’s advanced camera line-up”.
“Developed for large-format capture, the just-released V-RAPTOR XE offers filmmakers a flexible, essential toolset while preserving the uncompromising image quality that continually sets RED apart,” said RED CEO Keiji Oishi.
“We’re excited to introduce the XE to attendees at Broadcast India, where its compact design and cinematic capability will be on full display – underscoring its potential to elevate visual storytelling across formats.”
The latest addition to the Z Cinema camera line-up, V-RAPTOR XE is a streamlined version of the V-RAPTOR [X]. Designed for independent creators who “demand uncompromising image quality”, the V-RAPTOR XE delivers large-format, cinema-grade features at a $14,995 price point.
The versatile XE is built around the “essentials of modern filmmaking”, with features that include: 8K VV up to 60fps, 6K S35 up to 80fps, 4K up to 120fps, and 2K up to 240fps; “industry-leading” sensor technology with an advanced 8K large-format (VV) global shutter sensor; significantly reduced boot time and sensor power consumption (with upcoming firmware update); RED DNA with extraordinary image quality; high-grade low-light capabilities (17 stops); available with RF Mount or Nikon Z Mount for ultimate lens flexibility; and a compact body at just over 4 lbs that allows for tremendous flexibility in any shooting environment.
The XE offers compatibility with V-RAPTOR accessories, too.
Also available is the V-RAPTOR XE Cine Essentials Pack ($19,995), which includes the XE camera, a PL w/ Electronic ND Filter Adapter Pack, a DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0″ LCD, and the Outrigger Handle.
The V-RAPTOR XE is available to order today and will begin shipping to customers in India later this year.
Conference-goers can experience the RED V-RAPTOR [X], V-RAPTOR XE and KOMODO-X with Nikon’s Z Mount.
These newer camera variants offer “tremendous flexibility in lens selection and provide a comprehensive capture solution” – from lens to sensor to codec.
With a shallower flange depth and a wider diameter, the Nikon Z Mount enables lens designs with higher sharpness and superior aberration control.
The Z lens delivers strong low-light performance and edge-to-edge detail, as well as autofocus performance on both the V-RAPTOR [X] and KOMODO-X cameras.
Bringing filmic, full-frame imagery to live-broadcast workflows worldwide, RED’s Cine-Broadcast Module supports live broadcasting of up to two channels of 4K 60P (HDR/SDR) via 12G-SDI and IP broadcasting compliant with SMPTE ST 2110 (TR-08) and up to a 4K 60P JPEG-XS feed.
It features a robust LEMO SMPTE 311M/304M hybrid fibre optical cable connector linked to a rack-mountable 2U full rack or 4U half rack base station. The module further expands workflows with advanced slow motion, AI/ML enhancements, and real-time 8K 120FPS R3D streaming through the RED Connect licence-enabled feature.
Visitors to the stand will also see the “advanced Broadcast Color pipeline”, which facilitates live painting of RED cameras in broadcast or streaming environments and allows for on-demand adjustments and multi-camera colour matching using traditional broadcast controls.
This latest functionality comes in a firmware update for RED’s V-RAPTOR XL and V-RAPTOR cameras and utilises industry-standard RCPs to control painting parameters in real time over IP, while saving information per frame in the recorded file’s metadata.
The Cine-Broadcast Module, which will be available in India in 2026, has recently been deployed on events broadcast by CBS Sports, NBC Sports Group and MotoAmerica.
“Broadcast India is a vital platform for engaging with broadcasters and filmmakers across the region,” noted Jeff Goodman, RED vice president of product management.
“User insights are central to our development process – recent firmware updates, including improvements in thermal management and media reliability, were driven by feedback from creators in India.
“The cinema market in India continues to be a key influence on RED’s innovation roadmap, and we’re excited to connect in person with our community at this year’s show.”
All of RED’s latest technologies – and more – will be on display at stand E05, alongside brand partner Nikon, on the Broadcast India show floor.
