Sony has announced that it will exhibit a “powerful combination” of hardware and software solutions–including camcorders, studio cameras, monitors, switchers and storage–integrated with the latest advancements in cloud, artificial intelligence and IP technologies at IBC2025.
Highlights of Sony‘s offerings are available below.
Authenticity and real-time creativity
At IBC, Sony will showcase new functions from Ci Media Cloud and the Media Backbone Hive platform that help news organisations verify footage by displaying C2PA-compliant digital signature information.
Media Backbone Hive’s latest version (V2.3) includes an advanced Web Editor and AWS AI integration.
Additionally, Hive Cloud now supports the Time-addressable Media Store API (TAMS), enabling news agencies to achieve fast-turnaround, cost-effective workflows in the cloud.
Cloud-native tools, applied intelligence and enhanced connectivity for agile workflows
The latest versions of apps such as Monitor & Control, Creators’ App for Enterprise, Catalyst Prepare and Catalyst Prepare Plugin will also be featured at IBC2025.
Ci Media Cloud’s LiveSession is now available as a MediaBox add-on, offering high-resolution review and collaboration via share-link–no account required.
A redesigned Adobe Premiere Pro panel will be introduced this winter, giving editors direct access to Ci Workspaces with enhanced drag-and-drop, comment importing, and proxy relinking. A prototype of the plugin will be demonstrated at IBC.
Platform upgrades include accelerated transcoding and live stream optimisation, enhancing Ci’s performance for media teams in 190 countries.
Open ecosystem and integration
At IBC, Sony will demonstrate real-world deployments of Software Defined Broadcast (SDB) initiative technologies.
The Software Defined Broadcast model enables intelligent orchestration and automation of complex multi-venue workflows, as seen in a major UK sports production project. By enabling dynamic provisioning, remote collaboration and pay-per-use efficiency, Sony is aiming to redefine scalable and sustainable live production.
Aligned with SDB, Hawk-Eye Innovations will unveil an integrated broadcast ecosystem featuring HawkREPLAY, HawkNEST and Configure REPLAY. These tools offer 4x UHD slow-motion replays, advanced asset management and remote production capabilities, fully integrated with Sony technology.
Virtual production and immersive innovation
Sony will showcase advancements in spatial content creation and virtual production at IBC.
This includes demonstrations with the VENICE 2 digital cinema camera, OCELLUS tracking system, and the latest Crystal LED displays (CAPRI and VERONA), along with Virtual Production Tool Set Ver3.0.
A key highlight is a new tool that simplifies traditionally manual match-move work by using OCELLUS camera trajectory data. V3.0 will also feature upgrades such as Viewing Angle colour correction, Ray Tracing Acceleration, and expanded calibration capabilities for third-party cameras.
Sustainable innovation in practice
Sony’s IBC 2025 stand in the Elicium will highlight not only technological innovation but also sustainability. In alignment with its Road to Zero environmental initiative, Sony will feature Polygood panels made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic, sourced from materials like medical equipment and food packaging.
