His Majesty King Charles III has visited Eastbrook Studios, the UK’s newest purpose-built film and television studio, marking a “major milestone for the country’s rapidly expanding screen industries and a proud moment for Barking and Dagenham”, a press release said.

The King was welcomed by Jason Hariton, chief studio and real estate officer for The MBS Group, who introduced him to members of the wider MBS team responsible for bringing Eastbrook Studios from concept to reality.

During the visit, His Majesty also met students from the Film Barking and Dagenham Make It Here programme, a flagship initiative designed to open doors for local residents seeking careers in film, TV, and the wider creative sector.

On the day of the visit, students were taking part in a Studio Production experience – a production simulation that offers hands-on exposure to a working studio environment.

The project, produced by Film Barking and Dagenham, was led by talented industry professionals including director Patrick Dickinson and director of photography Sarah Thomas Moffat, with camera equipment supplied by One Stop Films, lighting from MBS Equipment, and a virtual production setup from VSS Equipment.

“The programme reflects the Borough’s long-term commitment to ensuring that residents benefit directly from the growing presence of film and TV production in the area – creating opportunities, developing skills, and supporting the next generation of storytellers,” the release continued.

“With Eastbrook Studios undeniably set to become a major force in UK production, the visit highlights a bold and confident vision of a thriving creative hub where local talent is supported, celebrated and central to the industry’s future.”
