Stockholm International Film Festival has presented Karim Fakih as the winner of the Nikon Short Film Award 2025.
The competition is open to filmmakers from all over Europe, and submissions can be a maximum of 60 seconds long.
Under this year’s theme, Better Together, over 100 entries were submitted, with each encouraged to explore the power of community, collaboration and human connection, asking: how do we become stronger together?
Dija focuses on finding community in small interactions – “a second-long moment between two strangers that means more than one might think”.
The jury said the film is “an effective and precise drama that manages to show how a small moment can change an entire sense of self”.
Chair of the competition’s official jury was the internationally acclaimed Swedish director Daniel Espinosa, whose TV series The Helicopter Heist had its world premiere at the festival last year.
Joining him on the jury were Swedish actors Nanna Blondell (House of the Dragon) and Sofia Kappel (Pleasure).
The winning film was screened during the awards ceremony at Bio Skandia. The prize consists of an exclusive Nikon ZR camera and accessories, as well as a unique, handmade glass sculpture by artist Erika Kristofersson Bredberg in collaboration with Designtorget.
